X users are not liable for defamation from deepfakes because most of their defamation is done anonymously with the social media "platforms" protecting that anonymity. As someone who was a victim of deepfake, I know all too well how social media protects trolls. You could attack me right now and spread lies (please don't), and I would have no recourse because I don't know who you are. That is the problem. No one is held accountable.
