The study quoted in this comment had a sample size of 20 women (nor can I find it.) To test this theory, I asked 20 of my successful friends if they make more or less than their husbands. 18 out of the 20 made more. Btw, I constantly date men who make less than me. I would have a very tiny dating pool if I were that shallow.

So far, the only study on hypergamy amongst rich women was a Swedish study. Unfortunately, the wage gap is 14 points there - much higher than the U.S. where we have closed the wage gap in 22 cities.

Women are, on average, more educated than men, so we are already more likely to “date down.”

So your dichotomous assumption that rich women only choose richer men is not as simple as you make it appear.
