Thank you for writing this piece. My parents are so ridiculously loving and perfect that my friends refer to them as “June and Ward” (Leave it to Beaver references…I am dating myself.) I too had to remove myself from a very toxic relationship.

Toxic people are often drawn to empathic, successful, high EQ partners because they have all the skills they lack. It’s time to disabuse the shamers that toxic people only reach for the low hanging fruit. They can target all kinds…issues. not issues. No correlation. Having your shit together does not protect you from assholes.
