Sigh. Fair question. He had other qualities that I admired - great dad, funny, the right age (I tend to only meet younger men), and super smart. And yes, I foolishly kept thinking he was going to step up and plan something. I did drop hints. And yes, I could have been more direct (and should have earlier). But by that point, his lack of effort killed the attraction for me.

I won't make that mistake again. And I hope readers learn from my stupidity.
