No I don't. Nor will I defend cuts to kid’s cancer research.

Funding pediatric cancer research (or any cancer research) is always an omnibus bill for one simple reason. Attaching pediatric cancer research funding to an omnibus bill increases the likelihood of its passage. Standalone bills, especially those with significant costs, are more susceptible to political roadblocks. In an omnibus bill, contentious issues can be offset by universally supported ones, like pediatric cancer research.

Standalone bills typically stall in committees or fail to reach the floor for a vote due to procedural hurdles or competing priorities. Being part of an omnibus bill reduces the risk of delay since these bills are typically considered must-pass legislation.
