Mike, I agree with your points but you are basically saying that dating apps are a shortcut. I am not convinced these shortcuts have improved modern love.

Yes, it is super annoying to be on a first date and have to drop subtle hints to figure out someone's political or religious leanings. But let's get real. Most people google before a first date. And while many people are not on social media, you can determine someone's politics and religious affiliations pretty easily by having a phone conversation before the date.

The advice used to be - don't talk politics or religion on a first date. I used to agree with that advice 10 years ago. Now...nope. It is a dealbreaker.
