Michael,
I share your frustration. Everyone feels powerless right now. But you hit on something significant - this is go time. If we kowtow to this madness (as Tim Snyder said, “obey in advance”), our little “Republic if we can keep it” will be lost.
I know phone calls and protests feel performative, but they do work. When we tie up their phone lines, these elected officials panic. Rachel Maddow read some of the letters representatives wrote back to their constituents, mocking their disingenuous responses - I.e. claiming Musk does not have access to our data. Shame is powerful.
We also must remember to thank the helpers. Jamie Raskin has been working overtime to stop this one. It’s basic human nature - when you hear appreciation, you work harder. It takes two seconds to send him a quick thank you note.

One thing I did not suggest was to contact Congressman Andy Biggs if you are an Arizona resident. He is the hypocritical rat bastard who sponsored this Act. Here’s the rub: In 2020, Congressman Andy Biggs introduced the One Bill, One Subject Transparency Act, to limit Congress from legislating on more than one matter at a time.
So he wanted diligent legislation in 2020, and now he wants to sweep out legislation in one fell swoop? What changed Mr. Biggs? Please spread the word to any Arizona representatives to tie up his phones.
Are you a member of Invisible or MoveOn? They are the two organizations I follow to attend protests. Remember that we must protest by the book - licenses, etc.
And lastly, if you are feeling dejected, go watch any video clip from Representative Jasmine Crockett. Every time I listen to her, it gives me hope that there are still people fighting for the American public. They need to know we will stand behind them.
