Janiece, I totally see how you could think I went on limited info given the brevity of this piece. But I had met Lou in November and we had been seeing each other sporadically over the following months. We texted daily. Even though I was dating other people (as I assumed he was), this was not something casual (at least for me.) I was hoping it would turn into a relationship. And yes, I was assuming he wasn't sleeping with anyone else because why would you do that if you are dating different people? I am old-fashioned and everyone who dates me knows that.

But let's just say hypothetically that he had a sick relative or something deeply personal. I felt we were at a point that he should have chosen to forge a greater intimacy instead of lying.

And perhaps he was not there yet. But that is just as problematic as having a girl in every port.

(But let's get real...the odds of it not being another woman are pretty slim. How many people do you know lie about visiting a sick relative?)

Lou was not a trigger for mistrust. I have had my share of jerks (haven't we all?) but the majority of the men I have dated have been honorable men. My parents have been married for 57 years. I had great role models.

Where I stand now - I have no ghosts haunting me. Just a past that I have learned from.

Your comments are important because I think they apply to many people. We need to trust others more. But the other side of that coin is honesty. And part of building trust is only giving it to people who deserve it. I choose to trust until someone betrays that trust. I don't give second chances with that one. If that seems harsh then you are free to accuse me of having too high of standards. But I know that guy is out there...and I plan to wait for him.

Friends - I don't need any more friends. I chose my friends wisely - they are all extremely honest people.
