ICE is Defunding the Police and Cannibalizing the Military
This isn't recruitment. It's assembly-line militarization.
On a hot Monday in Los Angeles, a 100-pound female taco vendor clung to a jacaranda tree while ten armed ICE agents pried her loose. Residents tried to prevent the kidnapping but were no match for masked agents.
Across town, a strawberry delivery driver was dragged off in front of TV cameras, rifles slung, helmets on, like he was a cartel kingpin. The undocumented man has been in this country for over a decade and has no criminal record.
In Washington state, while fighting the Bear Gulch fire, firefighters armed with hoses collided with border patrol officials armed with attitude. With smoke curling upward in the distance, Border Patrol agents detained and questioned 44 private contract firefighters and arrested two of them, preventing them from doing their job. One of the detainees was Michael Kerwin-Smith, a member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.
Let that sink in. A man whose ancestors occupied this land long before the idea of a U.S. border even existed was singled out as undocumented based on his skin color.
I wish I were making up the last story. But if it were fiction, this tale would end with those border…
