I will not remove it, but I will explain why. (And thank you for expressing your disapproval politely).

We are headed toward either A. Civil war or B. A Holocaust. Americans think they are so above acting like barbarians. I assure you. We are not. All the events that are unfolding right now are similar to Hitler, Stalin, and Mussolini. The authoritarian playbook never changes. Do you think Hitler just started off packing Jews in traines? No, he did exactly what Trump is doing now- trying to get the people to obey by dismantling the Constitution, othering groups (trans, Jews, Latinos), silencing the media, and then…

People always forget that Hitler didn’t deport Jews first. In 1933, he sent communists, socialists, trade unionists, journalists (gulp), and other dissenters to concentration camps - EXACTLY what Trump is doing now through Schedule F, the firing of the inspector generals, filling his cabinet with flunkies and sychophants, and removal of his top brass.

Then he targeted the “undesirables” - Jehovah’s Witnesses, the disabled, and homosexuals. Sound familiar? Trump, a draft dodger, just pulled trans people from the military and then declared all of them nonhumans.

Then, Hitler sent the Roma and Sinti to concentration camps. That’s the phase we are entering now. Either the courts will stop him, or the people will.

Then came the Nuremberg Laws, stripping Jews of citizenship. “The Final Solution”- the systematic extermination of Jews - began in 1941.

Hitler killed the Weimar Constitution in 53 days. Trump will do it sooner…if we let him. Murderous psychopaths like Trump don’t stop until someone stops them.

Btw, Project 2025 - the folks who bought his election to force their agenda are a group of white supremacists, even their president. Musk is too.

What happened yesterday was a humanitarian crisis to the rest of the world. But you are asking me to play what is worse? It begins here. Right here where we are at this moment - treating our fellow humans like dogs.

When historians compare Hitler and Trump, we are not comparing the men. We are comparing the people’s reaction to the men. Weimar Germans in the 1920s were very similar to Americans today. They had the same hopes, fears, and biases that allowed them to be seduced by authoritarianism. So when Trump’s actions are compared to Hitler’s actions, we are not asking readers to see how they mirror each other; we are asking readers to hold up a mirror to themselves.
