Although I agree that the comment section is most interesting, I recommend that you actually read the article too. To have any discussion, you first must listen. You are jumping right to the comments section to comment? Yeah, you are not here to learn then. And it is highly insulting to the author. I spend weeks tearing through longwinded science papers riddle with jargon to break them down so YOU can understand it.
And I would not assume that researching penis size is predicated on society’s focus on penetration. There’s a host of reasons to measure penis size but the most important is testosterone - that little pesky hormone that plays a big part in size. It has been dropping in the last 50 years and now researchers need to understand why. (If it drops any more, yes it is possible that average sizes will go down. It is already happening in some animal species.)
Take for example the research on noses being correlated with size. That tells us something significant. That size is predetermined by birth. We can now go back and try to understand T’s role after conception. (Btw, you would know this if you actually read the article.)
