Hi Jay,

I could write books on this subject. :) My one tip: Watch how they treat others. It starts in small ways - the waiter, the Uber driver, the stranger who needs their door held. Then, look at how they treat their friends and family.

Adam Grant has an interesting interview question that I feel can be translated into relationships. He asks candidates to tell a story about a time they helped a colleague who could do absolutely nothing for them in return.

In other words, does the person have transactional or meaningful relationships? It's ok to have both. But you should always have real friends that are your meaningful relationships.

Transactional people will call you "hot" and then throw you away as soon as you get sick or a bit sad because a best friend died. (And yes, that was a personal reference.)
