Allison, You have made some excellent points here, and we need to have this discussion. But I have to tell you; your cop story left me with mixed emotions.

I get why you are tired of being "nice" but what I don't understand is what you will do about it.

What I wish you had done is drop-kicked that cop in the balls. I know...easy for me to say. If I did that, I would get the jerk to back off. If you do it, you would have most likely got arrested...or worse.

But here's the problem. I guarantee that cop will do it again to another group of innocent Black girls minding their own business and being nice. And the next time...he might do something worse.

As frustrated as you are with having to play nice, there's a growing group of white people who wish you would STOP being nice. Stop being nice to white cops flaunting their privilege. Please. Next time, kick the dude in the balls...for the next Black girl.

And White people need to stop turning a blind eye to this crap. If you see a group of Black girls being harrassed by a white cop...say something. Step in. Protect the innocent. Both sides need to stop playing nice. Being nice is easy. And this problem is not going to be solved by doing the easy thing.
