Aaron, I completely agree with you. But I also see a different phenomenon. Many people said, “I don’t like Trump but I like his policies.” The curious thing is once I asked questions about said policies, those “hate the man not the game” folks couldn’t give me any details. They would mutter something about the economy. Bullshit. Yes, it sucks that eggs cost more, but things could get a whole lot worse. Imagine if we didn’t have such low unemployment. It’s one things not to be able to afford eggs because they cost more. It’s quite another to not be able to afford eggs because you are unemployed.

Not to mention, when in the history of the world did assholes not implement asshole policies? America’s history literacy is part of the problem.

Like I mentioned here, the real problem is the lane changing. Everyone wants humans to stay in their lane and any candidate who will set the clock back to a time when people’s roles were clearly defined is very seductive.

Humans have this amazing ability to be prosocial. Our emotional intelligence is what sets us above apes. But humans also have an amazing ability for zero-sum thinking. If you think a discriminated group’s gain will be your loss then you will vote for the candidate that represents loss even if he is a complete loser.

America is headed for more chaos. But chaos is the point. That is exactly what society wants. Some people want to blow things up a lot. But most people want to blow things up only a little. I think we forget that many people cock block vote.

Either way, this great experiment won’t survive if we don’t unite. Next election, has to be less about identity politics and more about policies.
